Contemporary Sewing Materials Ltd.
A little history...
In 1970 Contemporary Sewing Materials opened its doors on the fourth floor of a heritage building on Homer Street in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Gordon and Betty Harrison started out their wholesale fabric business selling mainly knits, Viyella (the once popular British woolen supplier) and cottons from P&B Textiles which CSM still sells today.
When the Harrisons decided to sell in 1988, Craig and Sharon Jacks purchased the company and Craig (with Gordon’s support, tutorage and wisdom) has continued the tradition of the dependable reputation of CSM.
As Contemporary continued to grow and prosper under Craig’s direction – with the help of his talented office staff, it outgrew its downtown location and moved to a warehouse in Richmond. What a luxury to have ample free parking, no steps to climb and our own receiving door!
Nine people work out of the head office warehouse and seven sales agents represent our many lines across Canada. From Dennis in Victoria, BC to Ken in Nova Scotia, our agents have samples of everything that is available from CSM.
CSM has a strong and excellent reputation with the independent retail quilt stores and manufacturers and our selection of items continues to grow.
We now represent approximately 15 different fabric mills, selling mostly 45" wide cottons, battings, interfacings and stuffings.
Craig and the staff would like to personally thank each of our customers for their continued support over our many years in business.
